Continuing with our Guest Lecture Series on Start-Ups, Mr. Sandeep Chopra, CA and alumnus of Harvard Business School and Managing Director of Purple Patch Ventures LLP, an angel investing firm, addressed our BBA and BCom students about “CREATING A SUSTAINABLE START UP BUSINESS” on 15th March, 2019. He highlighted the top 3 qualities necessary for the success of a Start-Up; team building, risk-taking and entrepreneurial spirit. He advised students that earlier they start their own business the greater the chances of failure and the major reasons for it are lack of experience, lack of capital, failure of the idea and inability to deliver. However, he suggested that it is good to fail fast and recover versus failing after a long time. He elaborated that the passion for creating start-up businesses is formed by a series of successes and through self-motivation. He explained the life stages of business in connection with the life stages of a human being. He illuminated that Start-Ups should focus on Unit Economics,i.e. profit margins of each product sold and to think for long term growth. Students who were interested to start their own business were told to always be willing to listen and learn. He ended the session by stressing on the need for a Start-Up core team to move quickly from their initial stages of Forming, Storming and Norming towards Performing
