Report – Orientation Programme
MBA & PGD – New Batch 2020

G D Goenka University, Gurgaon

Day 2 of the Orientation and Registration Programme started with the Welcome Address by Dr. Gyanesh Kumar Sinha, Head-Post Graduate Programme. In his address, he briefed the students about the Degree Structure, Credit Requirements & Specialization, Summer Internship & Dissertation and ICDL Certification. This was followed by briefing about Code of Conduct and Regulations of Examination at GDGU by Mr. Rajneesh Kler, Assistant Professor, SoM.
In the next session, Mr. Manoj Sahani, Director, CRC elaborated upon the Industry Interface and Role of Corporate Resource Center. He provided an overview regarding placement and internship assistance offered by the University. The pyramid of student activities and clubs organized from time to time in G D Goenka University were shared by Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Kaushik, Dean, Student Welfare & International Relations. She showcased the various recreational activities, clubs, and other major events of last year including Fresher’s party, CSR activity, Street play, Sportopia and the University Fest. She encouraged the students to participate in the different extra-curricular activities organized in the University from time to time.

The session on Avenues of Industry Exposure came up next, conducted by Ms. Sudipta Sen Gupta. She shared the models of engagement with industry comprising of Guest Lectures, Workshops, Webinars/Seminars/Conferences and Industry Visits. She mentioned some doyens of industry who have held lectures and workshops, exciting industry visits that have taken place in the past two years and the planned events for the semester.

Next came up the three-part Guest Lecture session, with Ms. Jyoti Kumar Bansal, CEO of PHD India, Mr. Rana Barua, CEO of Havas Group and Mr. Satyaki Ghosh, CEO of Aditya Birla Textiles. Ms. Bansal elaborated on the muti-segment impact of Covid19 and recovery mechanisms followed by her clients like Unilever, Volkswagen Group, HP, SAP, S C Johnson, HSBC, Vivo. She answered questions pertaining to the future of the media industry and media consumption habits. Mr. Barua explained the workings of modern paradigms of business-agency partnerships by his company through the Village model. He expounded on the concept of Meaningful Brands which can outlive crises and outlast the competition. Mr. Ghosh held forth on the multiple sectors of manufacturing and retail that he has been a part of. The business transformation practices of the textile industry, specifically Aditya Birla Textiles were explained. He clarified numerous doubts of the students regarding the post Covid19 scenario and the need for qualified managers once the economy bounces back shortly.

Registration and document verification of the students, begun on Day 1, continued in the second half of the day.
