One of the leading initiatives taken by the School of Law, GD Goenka University, in 2016, is the setting up of the CRAVE [Center for Research & Advocacy for Victim’s Empowerment]. The center was formally inaugurated on 28th March 2016 by Justice R.S. Sodhi (former Judge Delhi High Court) and Prof. (Dr.) G S Bajpai, Registrar NLU Delhi and President, Indian Society of Victimology. The center aims to adopt the nearby villages and the adjoining police stations and help the victims in getting the compensation from the District Legal Services Authority in Gurgaon expeditiously. In addition, the center will also carry our research in Victimology. The establishment of the center is expected to bring a great deal of change with active participation of the students.

Inauguration of Legal Literacy Club

The Legal Literacy Club at the School of Law, GD Goenka University was also inaugurated on the same day to involve students in creating legal awareness among the underprivileged sections of the society. Spreading awareness about various laws, legal rights and responsibilities are the principal purposes of this club. Ms. Suruchi Atreja, CJM and Member Secretary of District Legal Services Authority, Gurgaon inaugurated the Legal Literacy Club and motivated the students to do pro-bono work. Mr. Nazir Khan, the youngest Sarpach of Haryana graced the occasion and requested the School of Law to adopt his village for the purpose, which was agreed upon.
