G D Goenka School of Hospitality celebrated ‘International Bread Day’ with great pomp and show recently. Bread has been a staple in most cultures of the world. Culinary industry revolves around delicious breads and all their derivatives. Students and faculty of SoH, on this occasion conjured up a spectacular display of over 50 breads from 10 different countries at B Block event area from 11 am onwards. The students and faculty planned the event over weeks, finally culminating in a delicious labour of love. Alongside the breads were the choicest dips and preserves, dressings and butters.
The special guests for the day were two chefs who themselves are passionate about baking and bread- Chef Anahita Dhondy, Chef Manager, Soda Bottle Opener Wala and Chef Nishant Choubey, Executive Chef, Dusit Devarana.
The event was inaugurated by the breaking of the first bread and appreciation of bread by Vice Chancellor, Prof (Dr.) Raj Singh along with the two chefs. They were joined in by Dr. Nitesh Bansal, Registrar, GDGU and all the Deans of different Schools. The event was an open house for the entire faculty and students of GDGU and a very encouraging crowd trickled in to appreciate the breads.
It was a wonderful opportunity for students of even non-hospitality fields to savour so many breads under one roof. The event brought out the connoisseur and bread aficionado in many. Everyone went back satiated and satisfied with the epicurean experience.
