“Ahem, I have an announcement to make, all the hostel students have to be present at the Deans office at 7 pm”. A wave of curiosity and anxiousness swept the class. After an exhausting day, no hostel student wanted another lecture on ‘How to study? What to study? What to do and what not to.’ Having no choice, we marched towards his office in the other corner of the Campus.
The meeting was divided in two parts, the first slot (6.00pm to 7.00pm) was for the Interior design Students and the second (7.00pm to 8.00pm) for the Product Design Students. Honestly we were expecting sleepy faces of the students but to our amazement all were totally lightened up. Everyone carried a bright smile on their face and were totally into the group chat. Soon Dean sir called us in and asked us to get comfortable. He explained us that the purpose of the meeting was to have a smart casual talk with the hostel students and not a boring lecture on ‘TO DOs and DONTs’.
He discussed with us almost every topic related to the hostel and college life like facilities provided, problems faced, food quality, teachers, workload etc. He is a very soft-spoken person and for the next few hours he was like a parent to us.He also shared a lot of his own experiences and stories. He also asked everyone where they came from, their journey to G D Goenka SOFD and how has their experience been so far. The chat was smooth, everybody enjoyed and appreciated our Dean for holding this session. The Dean then joined us for the dinner to personally have a look at the quality of food. No one ever thought of such an evening. SOFD is really lucky to have such an awesome Dean on their side.
