School of Engineering and Sciences, GD Goenka University celebrated Engineer's Day on 15th September. The event started with paying tributes to Bharat Ratna Visvesvaraya who is regarded as the 'Father of Modern Mysore'. The theme this year for the event was “Developing for nation and giving back to society”. The event started with a welcome address by the Associate Dean of SoES, Prof. Usha Batra. Dr. Batra instilled motivation in the students to become an achiever and give up all fears in taking up new challenges. She also welcomed the distinguished speaker for the day: Mr. AJAY AGARWAL, Director & Head – Customer Delivery HWSD, INDIA-Operations for Nokia. The students were enlightened to hear Mr. Aggarwal, who shared his experiences and motivated the students. It was followed by Engineering Project Exhibition in which the students showcased their projects. There were many Pan-India hackathon winning entries in the exhibition. The AIML club and Coder’s club also organized two workshops: “Workshop on Automating Boring Stuff Using Python” and "Workshop on React JS". These workshops received overwhelming response and students practiced hands-on on these technologies in the lab.

The attraction of the day was the Potluck and team-building activities. Faculties and staff savored mouth-watering delicacies prepared by different faculties. The evening was lined with felicitating contributions made by faculties in different domains of research, projects, mentorship, clubs, innovative teaching and responsibilities. The Associate Dean, Prof. Usha Batra encouraged the faculties by handing over certificates and rewards and motivated them to continue the good work. The event ended with vote of thanks to all members who contributed in making this event a success.
