Gurugram, India (9thMarch, 2018) G D Goenka University draws curtains on its 3rd annual techno-cultural fest “Acceleron” and sports fest “Sportopia” amidst loads of colours, enthusiam and sportsmen spirit. The three day sports and cultural extravaganza culminated with “Pro Night” by Vh1 Supersonic where excited students danced to the tunes of latest chartbusters. Prior to this, the events saw overwhelming participation from over a hundred universities and institutes across over 30 categories.

In the techno cultural meet “Acceleron”the fashion show was won by Manipal University, Jaipur while Maitreyi College, Delhi University went back with the runners up trophy. Participants from Rawal Institute bagged the folk dance trophy with participant from G D Goenka taking away the runners up trophy. Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management bagged the award for the best Street Play.

For annual sports meet, “Sportopia” Lokesh from Gurgaon College of Engineering won the award for best male athlete whileGeetanjali from GDGU received the trophy for best female athlete. North Cap University were the Football champions while Asian Education Group took away Kabaddi trophy and KIIT was the Kho-kho winner. Sahil from Delhi College of Arts and Commerce was the winner of Men’s TT while SamiranMukharjee from KIIT was the winner in the category of Women’s TT.

Prior to this the vibrant and colorful opening ceremony was inaugurated by Mr. Anup Kumar, Captain of the Indian Kabaddi Team. The welcome address was delivered by Prof.(Dr.) Tanuja Kaushik, Dean Student Welfare while Prof. (Dr.) Shrihari, VC, G D Goenka University delivered the inaugural address. “It is for the first time the university has organized techno cultural and sports meets together. Student festivals act as a catalyst to spark the best of creativity and talent out of students, it also provides them with a larger platform to interact with their peers from several other institutions and universities. Sports and Arts act as a great bridge between different cultural outlooks,” said Dr. Srihari, Vice Chancellor of the university
