The Orientation commenced with the University’s President Prof Suku Bhaskaran welcoming the scholars and initiating them to the research process by explaining the meaning of scholarly research. He shared several examples from his experience as a researcher and encouraged the scholars to remain motivated throughout their journeys as most of them were returning to education students. He shared numerous valuable suggestions for conducting an empirical inquiry, a critical review of the literature and explained the importance of timely publication. The current batch includes several senior professionals holding coveted positions in their respective fields and they were all delighted to be back to formal education. The Registrar, Mr. Narendra Sharma also graced the occasion.

Dean Research, Dr. Anjali Midha Sharan, took the scholars through the Ph.D. Regulations and the University’s processes and policies relevant to the Ph.D. program. Questions raised by the scholars were also addressed during this session. Team members and points of contact, including the program coordinator, were introduced and the program leaders who were not available in person were introduced through brief video clips that they had prepared especially for the session.

There were several sessions ranging from a presentation of the ongoing research projects by Dr. Shashikant Gupta, a session on Plagiarism and plagiarism detection software by asst librarian Mr. Sunil Kumar and a session on using the online library resources through the JGate tool, by Mr. Srivastava from IGate.
