Guest Lecture on “Expectations of Industrialists from Freshers”

GD Goenka University organized a guest lecture on Expectations of Industrialists from Freshers by Mr. Subhash Tyagi, Chairman, Gold Plus Glass Industry Limited on 24th August, 2018. Mr. Tyagi entered the Glass Industry in 1985 by setting up a trading company. In a span of 25 years, he set up India’s largest glass processing units and first fully Indian owned float glass plant in India. Gold Plus has grown with the changing scenario of glass industry in India and believes that the growth in this sector is imminent. The lecture was organized for the students of B.Tech/ BCA/ B.Sc. (IT) and MBA. The session began with sharing of experiences by Mr. Tyagi which led and kept him on the path from a trader to a successful businessman. He encouraged the students by quoting that every person has the potential to become an entrepreneur. He enlightened the students with the attributes that industries seek in a candidate. During his talk he also emphasized on the importance of being ethical, focused and determined to achieve any goal in life. In this highly interactive session, he talked about the problems faced by him during his struggle to establish the business, and the courage required to overcome these hurdles. The speaker addressed various questions asked by the students. He shared the idea of faculty writing lessons from their experiences and discussing it in class which are not found in standard University text books. He closed the discussion during open house with a message on sensitizing the need of the generation to respect women. Students and faculty members alike benefited from the talk. The lecture was followed by Mr. Tyagi’s visit to the laboratories and other facilities of the University. He was pleasantly surprised at the growth of the University in such a short time and appreciated the vision of the organization.
