GD Goenka University organized a sumptuous freshers’ party for the new batch on 26th September 2014.Continuing with the proud tradition of the university, senior students and new faces of the university mingled with each other with music, smiles all along, resounding laughter- yes it is party time! The very purpose of Freshers’ Day party was to welcome newcomers in a friendly atmosphere and to encourage their creative impulses and to boost their confidence. All the events were artistically and beautifully presented in colors as well as style. The audience was kept enthralled for hours by mind-blowing performances of dances, songs and mimicry. There were hit dance numbers and various music styles which entertained all.

The main challenge of the event was selection of Mr. and Ms. Fresher. The Mr. and Ms. Freshers’ Competition witnessed an entry of more than 75 contestants, both boys and girls. The auditions were taken and the finalists were chosen on different criterions like looks, intelligence, clarity of thought, dressing style, attitude and confidence. Twenty finalists were selected for the main event. These finalists appeared for the final round at Freshers’ party and were judged further on their performance in different rounds like ramp walk, talent show and then the final “Question-Answer” round by the honorable judges Mrs. Saroj Bhogal, Mrs. Suneet Soni and Mr. Anubhav Sharma.

Mr. Aryaman Vaidi from School of Management and Ms. Priyanka Ghosh from School of Fashion and Design, were the winners and became Mr. and Ms. Fresher of the university. And the winners for Mr. and Ms. Talent were Mr. Rudra Sahai (School of Architecture and Planning) and Ms. Karishma Chandok (School of Management). The winners were awarded with a trophy, a sash and a gift hamper .The event ended with pomp and show and both students and faculty had great fun. Freshers’ loved the welcome given to them and appreciated the whole-hearted efforts of their seniors and the university. It is said that a good start signifies a great end, and the freshers’ could not have asked for a better kick off.
