To bring qualitative improvement in the standards of education and enhance the autonomy of higher education institutions in India, the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD), Government of India is set to replace University Grants Commission (UGC), the apex higher education regulator, with Higher Education Commission of India (HECI) by repealing the UGC Act, 1951. Numerous debates and discussions have been initiated in the public domain to seek the views and suggestions regarding this momentous proposed reform.

Our B.Ed. student-teachers of School of Education and MBA students of School of Management got one such unique opportunity to actively participate and voice their views and suggestions as well as express their concerns in ‘Sarokar’- a panel discussion on ‘New Face of Higher Education in India (HECI)’ on July 29, 2018. The show was aired on Rajya Sabha T.V. The eminent panelists of the show included Professor R. Subramaniyam, Secretary, MHRD, Professor (Dr.) Seyed Ehtesham Hasnain, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi and Professor Pankaj Gupta, Executive Director, Jindal Global Business School, Haryana.
