The destiny of a nation is shaped in its classrooms. In this context, the crucial role and responsibility of a teacher in the task of nation building cannot be undermined. To quote Dr. Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan, “Teachers should be the best minds in the country”. School of Education celebrated Teachers’ Day on September 5, 2017 in a very special way as this day is extremely meaningful and significant for the teaching community.



The day began with extending warm wishes to Prof. (Dr.) Shrihari, Vice Chancellor, GDGU by presentation of hand-made cards by student-teachers. To commemorate the birth anniversary of a great visionary, philosopher and educationist, Dr. Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan, celebrations at SoEd commenced with traditional tilak ceremony to welcome the faculty, staff and student-teachers. This was followed by invoking the Almighty with Om chanting, Gayatri Mantra and Saraswati Vandana. The student-teachers showcased their aesthetic potential through decorations and colourful rangoli. They presented spectacular cultural performances such as dance, motivational Rabindra geet ‘Ekala Chalo Re’, poetry dedicated to teachers by Abraham Lincoln, speech on the educational contribution of Dr. Radha Krishnan and a mesmerising role play. The environment became even more vibrant with laughter and happiness during games for facultyand cake-cutting ceremony. Student-teachers presented self- made cards to their teachers. Prof. (Dr.) Reva Raina, Dean, SoEd blessed the student-teachers and faculty. SoEd actively participated in university level celebrations and contributed in a big way to make the programme a grand success
