The 6th International Conference GDGU ICON 2024

GD Goenka University, School of Management, organised The 6th International Conference GDGU ICON 2024 themed "Driving Sustainability, Circularity and Development through Innovations in Management and Technology” on April 4th and 5th, 2024 .

The session delved into the implications of various industries on sustainability, including Textile and Construction, and highlighted the role of technology such as Virtual Reality, Al, and Gamification. Discussions also touched upon the impact of these factors on Sustainable Development Goals and addressed challenges like Global Warming

The first day of conference commenced with a blessing of Goddess Saraswati and a warm welcome address by Prof. Dr. Smitha Girija, Dean of SOM, GDGU. Dr. Karina Bhatia Kakkar, Convenor of the Conference, provided an overview of the conference tracks, which encompassed nine different areas of focus.

Distinguished guests included Chief Guest Dr. Rajib Kumar Mishra (CMD, PTC India Limited), Keynote Speaker Prof. Sankarshan Basu (Professor, IIM Bangalore), and Guest Speakers Dr. Somnath Singh (Deputy Director, UN GCNI), Mr. Shaleen Garg (MD, Accenture), and Ms. Beatrice Ngaunje (Education Attaché, Malawi Embassy)

On the second day a panel discussion titled "Nurturing the Virtual Ecosystem for Sustainable Management Practices" was held, exploring the intersection of technology, sustainability, andmanagement. Panel members included Prof. Abhijit Majumdar (Professor, IIT Delhi), Dr. Abhishek Behl (Assistant Professor, MDI Gurugram), Mr. Sanjay Kumar Varshney (COO, Signature Global), and Ms. Apurva Maroria (Talent Acquisition Specialist, Royal Enfield). Prof. Vandana Mehrotra (Assistant Dean) served as the moderator

The event concluded with a Valedictory Session featuring Guest of Honor Dr. Jatinder Singh (Assistant Secretary General, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Mr. Vikash Agrawal (Director, PwC AC Kolkata) and Ms. Seema Arora (Deputy Director General, CII), providing a reflective closure to the conference.

The event was a great success providing a platform for thought- provoking discussions, knowledge sharing, and networking opportunities, contributing significantly to the discourse on sustainability, circularity, and development in management and technology.
