November 3, 2017, GD Goenka University was buzzing with young entrepreneurs busy with their own business ventures for the 5th edition of Udyami Bazaaar, organized by GD Goenka Technology Business Incubator, in short, GDGTBI! The renowned journalist and Managing Editor of NDTV, Mr. Sreenivasan Jainalong with the Vice Chancellor of GD Goenka University, Prof. (Dr.) Srihari and Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Kaushik, Head GDGTBI inaugurated the event. Traditional dance along with Mono act dance and a vibrant Punjabi dance performance set the tone for Udyami Bazaar 2017. This is a platform to display entrepreneurial, creative and marketing skills of the youth. Over 75 stalls were registered for the event. Students from GD Goenka University as well as other Institutes participated. Stalls with varieties of food, product merchandise and entertainment were busy to promote their product and do business. The ground was vibrant with visitors to the various stalls and a rhythmic DJ corner.
A panel of jury members visited the stalls and judged each one of them with reference to certain specific parameters. Dean of School of Education, Prof. (Dr.) Reva Raina and Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr. Tithi Bhatnagar were the honourable members of the jury. After an entire day of business activity with our young entrepreneurs, it was the time to declare the prizes. To do the honours, Head of GD Goenka Technology Business Incubator, Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Kaushik was invited on stage along with honourable members of the jury. Runner-up and Winner stalls were declared in three different categories; they were ‘Most Innovative Marketing’, ‘Most Well Managed Stall’ and ‘Most Popular Stall’.
The winner for Most Innovative Marketing went to the stall named “Colour My Bindi” which was owned by Khusboo Rao of School of Communication. Gargi Dagar and Tanisha Wadhwa of School of Humanities and Social Sciences won runner-up for stall, “VIBGYOR”. “Unicorn Island” hosted by Nidhi and Oshi Ubeja of School of Architecture and Planning bagged the winner’s trophy in ‘Most Well Managed’ category followed by runner-up, “Suryavanshi Drinks” which was organized by Tejasvi and Aman Kashyap of School of Medical and Allied Sciences. Finally, the award was announced for the ‘Most Popular Stall’. Winners were Sakshi Sehrawat of Maharaja Surajmar Institute and Rishabh Yadav of Netaji Shubhash Institute of Technology. Shalini and Swati of School of Law received the runner-up trophy in this category. Each participant of Udyami Bazaar 2017 was recognized with a Certificate of Participation. The event closed with the Vote of Thanks to acknowledge the support of Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Administrative officer, GDGTBI members, student volunteers, participants and all others involved with this event.
