Workshop on effective communication and public speaking skills conducted by Dr. Arpita
Rastogi

On January 25 th , 2021, Dr. Arpita Rastogi conducted a one day online workshop on effective
communication and public speaking skills for the B. Sc Agriculture students of SoAS. The
workshop aimed to help students to develop the skills necessary for articulating their ideas and
present their thoughts in a compelling manner.

During the workshop, Dr. Rastogi covered a range of topics, including the principles of effective
communication, public speaking techniques, and the importance of body language and nonverbal
cues. She also provided students with practical advice on how to structure a presentation, engage
an audience and handle nerves when speaking in public.

In addition to the lecture component, she also included a number of hands-on activities and
exercises designed to help students put their newfound knowledge into practice. This included
mock presentations, group discussions and feedback sessions, where students received
constructive feedback on their speaking skills and techniques.

One of the highlights of the workshop was a session on the effective use of visual aids, such as
slides and graphics, in presentations. Dr. Rastogi provided students with tips on how to use
visuals to support their arguments, clarify complex ideas, and keep their audience engaged.
