Workshop on Interdisciplinary Research & Thesis Writing

School of Engineering & Sciences (SoES), GD Goenka University (GDGU), Haryana, India organized One-day Workshop on ‘Interdisciplinary Research & Thesis Writing’ on 2 November 2022 for Ph.D. scholars and PG students. The workshop aimed to highlight the significance of Interdisciplinary Research and different aspects of Thesis writing. Besides, a hands-on session was also conducted to highlight various Referencing Styles in academic writing. Experts in the fields of Science and Technology have been invited to share their knowledge and experience. 

The first session was conducted offline by Prof. (Dr.) Ram Kumar, Former Dean atthe School of Earth, Biological and Environmental Sciences,Central University of South Bihar. Prof. Kumar gave a talk on ‘Interdisciplinary Research’ and its significance. He put a clear distinction between Interdisciplinary, Multidisciplinary, and Transdisciplinary research through some interesting examples.

The second session was conducted online by Dr.S. M. Tauseef, Professor & Associate Dean R&D,University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), on Thesis writing. Dr. Tauseef discussed the various aspects of thesis writing in brief and the research processes in general.

The last session of the Workshop was conducted offline by Dr. Binitendra Naath Mongal, Assistant Professor, School of Engineering & Sciences, GDGU. Dr. Mongal conducted a hands-on session on Reference Management Tool which plays an important role at every step of research. Overall, it was a highly useful and wonderful event for the scholars and PG students of GDGU.
