The World Pharmacists day is observed each year on 25 th September. This year the theme of world pharmacist day was “Pharmacy: Always trusted for your health”. At a time of uncertainty  when vaccines hesitancy remains a major hurdle, public trust in pharmacy is more important than ever before and it is the pharmacist that stands with sincerity, on the forefront holding the responsibility of serving the nation.

GD Goenka University, School of Medical and Allied Sciences celebrated World Pharmacists’ Day on 24th September 2021(the actual World Pharmacists’ Day is on 25th September but due to weekend it was decided to celebrate it on 24th September, 2021) at the university campus with immense grandeur. The event was initiated by an auspicious ceremonial lamp lighting and Ganesh Vandana . The students and members of faculty then took the Pharmacist’s Oath collectively to remind their role towards the society and health care system. The function proceeded with an informative address to the audience and inauguration by  Dr. Shailendra Bhatt, HoD,Department of Pharmacy . He very correctly explained the significance of a pharmacist in the  health care system. He also emphasized the role and responsibilities of being a pharmacist and how each one should strive towards achieving excellence in the field.

Following that there was a small skit enacted by the students, which portrayed a chronological order of events that took place during the Covid -19 era starting from December 2019 till now explaining how the pharmacists have supported the healthcare system and contributed to the world with their scientific innovations from medicine repurposing to vaccine discovery during the pandemic. They also demonstrated the precautionary measures that we need to take in order to face the third wave of the pandemic. 

The session was continued by amazing performances of dance, speech and mono acting by the  talented students of Department of Pharmacy.

The session was concluded by a vote of thanks by Ms. Suhani Sinha, Assistant Professor, Dept of Pharmacy, wherein she thanked all the participants and volunteers for their enthusiastic participation and making the occasion such a grand success.
