Department of physiotherapy at SoMAS celebrated "world Physiotherapy Day -2021". Internationally World Confederation of Physical Therapy (WCPT) has set the theme of "Rehabilitation and Long COVID". In line with this global call and ongoing late complications of COVID 19 the events were organised an awareness cum consultation activities including camp, expert talks, industry presentations etc.   

Prof. Umasankar Mohanty, a well-known academic and physiotherapy specialist, gave a motivational speech as the event's kick-off. Professionals from the Primus Super speciality Hospital in New Delhi organised a unique industrial virtual tour. The virtual demonstration offered a glimpse of routine work and life of a physiotherapist in hospital. The physiotherapy consultation camp was managed by specialist faculty addressing all sorts of cardiovascular/ musculoskeletal and neurological ailments of acute as well as chronic nature.

Professional discourses in the first half were complemented by the passion of a cultural events in the University Auditorium in the second half, which included an exhibition of creative poster and rangoli competitions on the sidelines.

Honble Vice chancellor sir, Dean Somas, Dr Uday Yadav and Dr Vivek Dahiya were the distinguished guests of the cultural program. VC sir Prof. Dr.  Tabrez Ahmad took the opportunity to cheer and wish the celebrating physiotherapy fraternity of the university from the Dias. His words were filled with blessings and motivation that were accelerated the speeding spirits of the audience. 

Dean sir Prof. Dr. Rohit Dutt, also congratulated organising committee for an apt arrangement that was long awaited in the campus. He showered his love and blessings to students and faculty and appreciated the amazing lifesaving skills of Physiotherapy professionals. Dr Sanjeev Gupta HOD steered the program through its various stages by his informative talks.

There was a special talk by Dr. Vivek Dhaiya, Director Institute of Musculoskeletal and Orthopaedics, Medanta Hospital, On injury prevention and role / scope of PT in different situations of life that are potential source of accidents/ injuries. 

Dr Uday Yadav a known physiotherapy practitioner and administrator in Gurugram region was the other resource person for the technical sessions who enlightened the audience with a straight from practice presentation on scope of physiotherapy in today’s emerging healthcare scenario. 

The concluding part of the program was heart pumping dance performances, peppy singing and a skit / street plays on the program theme. The students enjoyed each moment of the day and took memories they will cherish for years. The talented performers were recognised and awarded prizes under several categories. The ended with a sense of gratitude among all to have a breather of celebration which will surely help them to come out of lockdown shadows and help the to reclaim their lost campus life!
