Industry Leader, Motivates First Year Students to Achieve Success in Life

One of the highlights of the second dayof the orientation program for the first year students of GD Goenka School of Engineering, on 30th August 2016, was a motivational talk by Mr. Alok Sinha, Chief Executive Officer at Globus Eight, Greater New York City Area, Information Technology and Services.

Mr. Sinha anindustry leader, created multiple medium to large scale business units in the last 22 years of multi-industry experience in Telecommunications, IT, Media and Technology corporations. He is a well-recognized industry expert on Cloud computing, Telecom and IT security.He is on the panel of PC Quest, Data Quest,Better Photography magazines, andhave moderated several CXO level summits, frequently tapped by media for expert opinions and industry insight. Mr. Sinha was on the Indian Prime Minister’s Malaysia delegation, representing Indian IT sector. He has hosted television series on emerging technology for leading channel. He has also established Project Management competency for IBM’s India business with 168 PM Specialists with average industry experience of 15 yrs. He has executed over 200 projects and managed several large business units including IBM Global Grid computing business, with annual revenues of $230M. He is author of the book – BBS, Modems & Email, published by Comdex Computer Publishing.

Mr. Sinha started the interactive session with the students by asking the formula for success in life. He emphasised that the four key factors for achieving success in life which are; hard work, smart work, ability to present and versatility. He gave several examples to prove that these factors work. Mr. Sinha also emphasized on how to get the skills which can be helpful in getting recruited by the companies at the end of the program.Like other business leaders he also emphasised on planning. The life too has to be planned and one of the key things in order to achieve it is to plan “what you will not do”. He also talked about having written success goals, and work for 15-16 hrs a day to achieve it.He also emphasised that there is no tomorrow and stated, “If you want to do something then do it today. Start learning from today and add as many skills as you can.Whatever you do, do it with passion. Without passion you cannot achieve success.”

The session ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Anindita Roy Chowdhury, Assistant Professor, GD Goenka School of Engineering.
