Comic Con Delhi hosted at the NSIC grounds from 4-6 December, 2015 celebrated both international and national pop culture with great gusto. It showcased an interesting variety of merchandise, cosplaying, sessions with eminent artists, launches, games and much, much more. The special guests of this year were, Kristian Nairn, aka Hodor from Game of Thrones. Comic Con fans also got the opportunity to talk to Rob Denbleyker, creator of one of thefamous internet comic series,Cyanide and Happiness. The event was graced by Eisner award nominee, Ty Templeton who has created Batman and Superman series amongst many. Finally, we also got to interact withDinesh Shamdasnani, who is the CEO of Valiant Comics and actor and comedian, Cyrus Broacha. This year brought in more rush, standees and even the food gottastier! It was in a huge open space this time which was a plus point as it was easy to manage the crowd. The complex also hosted a painting competitionknown as Colour by Asian Paintsand we got to see a waxand paint artist draw Batman as well. Many cosplayers were seen exploring the stalls and posing for photos in their intricate costumes. I too posed for some as the urban Jack Sparrow! Talking about the merchandise, I could see many awesome artworks on tees, frames, bags and even key chains. It reminded me of my childhood with Scholastic and DK books, and Star Wars, Marvel and DC graphic novel zones. I bought in merchandise from startups like Lazyninja, Popart factory and CaptainKyso to support their unique work. The only drawback was that the credit/debit card machines weren’t working so I had to miss out on buying some of my favourites as well! All in all, I would like to quoteSagar Bose who rightly defined Comic Con as, ‘the limits to which humans are willing to go to escape reality.’ Yes, it was fantastic! SOC students AvantikaDedha and DeekshaGoyal visited Comic Con 2015.
