GD Goenka University had its Cultural Fest ACCELERON-2016 on 17th18th March. At the departmental level, School of Management organized 2 events AD MAD SHOW and BUSINESS PLAN.

AD MAD SHOW It is an ‘Advertisement Making Competition’ for the students to showcase their creativity in Marketing products and services. Its objective is to acquaint the students about promotional strategies in marketing through advertisements. It comprises of humorous and conceptual ad presentation by the students. Students will act out on various advertisement script and ideas relevant for different sectors. The theme for the event was maddening creativity.11 teams participated and showed their talent. Participants got a maximum of 3 minutes to showcase their talent by using the provided props. The first prize was won by GD Goenka University and the second prize by Rawal Institute of Engineering and Technology (RIET). The most entertaining part of all the ads was its Jingle and Punchline.

BUSINESS PLAN Promoting entrepreneurship is one of the key strategy leading to economic growth and job creation especially in an environment where business opportunities and political will prevail. The effort definitely conducts to more business startups targeting different economic and business sectors. However, many people would wish to embark on initiating businesses if they have enough and clear information as key to motivation and stimulation of such effort. Different ways are possible to support such people with good willingness and ready to embark on business creation. Among them, a Business Plan Competition which aims at creating a challenging but capacitating process of stimulating young people with business ideas to attempt their implementation plans and assessment of profitability. It has been carried out with the main purpose of bringing the people with bright ideas and entrepreneurial spirit on board to fulfill the national vision of an ‘Entrepreneurial and Innovative Economy. Many young students have been always sensitized to think about coming up with business ideas. This implies a sense of creativity and innovation through the process of thinking out of the box. At the University level, 10 teams participated in the business plan competition. The first prize was won by GD Goenka University and the second by Apeejay Stya University. The most interesting part of the event was the students’ creativity and unique ideas of their own in differentiation.

Event came to an end by vote of thanks and congratulation notes from Faculty members.

STYLE WARS As part of our very first annual cultural festival “ACCELERON’, the GDGU Fashion Club organized ‘STYLE WARS’ fashions show competition between the participating colleges and universities from Delhi and NCR.

The most exciting part of the event other then it being our first such event, was the group of people from different backgrounds and colleges in our university who came together to work on this project. The responsibilities like the funding, promotion, publicity, management and last but not the least designing our own collection were taken up with a lot of energy and excitement. The work done by the students varied from choosing a good yet unique theme for our very own fashion show to going into the world full of options and varieties to choosing specific things which would go with our theme. The props, the ideas, stitching and designing of clothes done by the students of our university should be given special credit as because of this our fashion show came out to be a success and our university came 1st in the fashion show event.

It was an amazing experience as different teams of students from varied backgrounds like management, hospitality engineering and fashion design students worked seamlessly in perfect synchronization. All objectives were achieved in time and the event as a whole turned out to be a roaring success. All credit goes to the enterprising students who volunteered.

The teams from different colleges viz. Manav Rachna internatuional University, Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women, Institute of Home Economics(IHE), IMS-Design and Innovation Academy, Gurgaon Institute of Technology and Management (GITM), and Amity Universityparticipated with themes as varied as style – evolution, flora and fauna, palace of illusions, jashn-e-ishqa journey of a girl, papery funk, and trendy mash-up.The credit for this goes to the teams who participated in our fashion show with so many varied themes and took the audience into a whole new world of fashion and style.

The jury included the celebrity fashion designer Mr Rahul Reddy, architect and professor of design at Politechnico Di Milano Mr Paolo Castagnetti and our esteemed Director of GD Goenka, Mr. Rohit Gujral.

The student coordinators who deserve a special mention for their contribution are Kalpita, Shweta Chaudhari, Shriya Tibrewal and Pia Dabas. Our event managers were Tejasvi Sachdeva and Saksham Rana who had put in their time and best of efforts to arrange all the requirements for the fashion show. Archit Vats brought about an amazing mix of tracks for the fashion show with Ambuj Wahi and Rahul Saini as our music coordinators. The entire show was held together by the anchoring of Monica Sehrawat and Vivek Singh.

The fashion show was a big success and added a dose of glamour to the festivities all around.
