Reva – The New Beginning

WELCOMING OUR FRESHERS!

“Reva – The New Beginning”as the event was named, truly underlined the essence of the first fresher’s party hosted by GD Goenka University. It was an occasion of informally welcoming the first batch of students to the University with great zeal and jubilation.

The party was organised by the Dean-Student Welfare through its Board of Student Activities (BSA) on 15th October, 2013. One of the highlights of the party was its interesting theme of ‘Ink & Pink’. There were events like the talent show and titles such as Mr and Ms Pink, Mr and Ms Talented, Funkiest hairstyle etc were awarded to students. Professor Arturo(Dean of Politecnico di Milano), Ms Vibha Rave and Ms Suneet Soni, were the respected members of the jury and Dr. Raj Singh, VC presented the awards to the winners.

Out of the six competitive and talented candidates of the talent show round, Akansha and Parth from the School of Engineering were the winners, proving their edge over the others through their entertaining performances. On the other hand, Jayant Lamba and Naina from the School of Hospitality bagged the most prestigious title of the evening, Mr and Ms Fresher’s respectively after giving a tough competition to the 70 aspirants, out of which 10 entries were shortlisted for the final round. The 10 finalists had to impress the jury with a ramp walk and by wittily answering a series of interesting questions.

All the winners were conferred with the Wool Mark t-shirts of cool-wool technology (the latest advancement) that were manufactured in Hong Kong. Moreover, the students collectively presented the jury members with saplings as a token of respect and appreciation. Professor (Dr) Raj Singh, shared a few words with the gathering and was overwhelmed by the success of the show. He also, at the end, thanked the authorities, the faculty members and the students who worked behind the stage for putting up the grand event.Nitu and Saurabh from  School of Management  along with Vikrant & Saatvika from School of Hospitality were also accredited for hosting the event.

The students then had a blast dancing to the music played by the DJ. The first fresher’s party of G.D Goenka University garnered an overwhelming response and I’m sure all of us look forward to the forthcoming Fresher’s in the future years with greater enthusiasm.
