The MA in Political Science (International Relations) is a two-year postgraduate programme designed to provide an advanced understanding of global politics, foreign policy, and the strategic interactions between states and international actors.
The programme equips students with theoretical and analytical tools to interpret contemporary world affairs, global challenges related to governance, diplomatic practices, and issues of international security. Through a combination of core political science foundations and specialised IR courses, students gain the ability to assess international events critically, analyse foreign policy behaviour, and engage in informed research on global issues. Graduates are prepared for careers in diplomacy, international organisations, research institutions, global NGOs, strategic analysis, media, and academia.
Program Specialisation
The MA in Political Science ( Specialisation in Public Policy) is a two-year postgraduate programme designed to develop a deep understanding of how public decisions are made, implemented, and evaluated. the programme is tailored by combining political science theory with practical policy analysis. It provides students with exposure to governance processes, development strategies, public management, and evidence-based policymaking.
Students are trained to assess public problems, design policy solutions, advocacy and evaluate their outcomes using qualitative and quantitative tools. Graduates of the program are prepared for positions where knowledgeable policy expertise is crucial, such as government agencies, policy think tanks, development organisations, non-governmental organisations, consulting firms, and academic research institutions.
Programme Specific Outcomes (PSO)
PSO 01
Acquaint students with the development of comparative politics as a discipline and to engage in a cross-country analysis of the different structures and processes of government/s; to learn the tenets offered in Western and Indian Political Thought and develop a contextual understanding of the thinkers’ ideas.
PSO 02
Familiarize students with theories and concepts along with knowledge of empirical tools, problem solving skills and strong understanding of public policy and international relations.

PSO 04
Develop reasoning ability, equip students with desired problems solving techniques and help them comprehend diverse sets of issues.

Develop the skill required for data collection, knowledge of sampling techniques, and ability to carry out qualitative and quantitative research methods in Political Science; and lastly.
PSO 06
Introduce students to several style guides in referencing that are adopted in research and writing in the social sciences.

M.A. (Political Science) Admission Requirement
Students who have undergraduate degree in Political Science or allied Social Science stream from a university/College recognized by the UGC with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
