Ideathon 1.1, the flagship event of the Centre of Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CIE), was held from 13-14 December 2022. Ideathon brought to fruition the IDP, interdisciplinary project, a unique initiative that aims to raise leaders of the future by instilling in our students a multi-disciplinary approach towards practical as well as academic problems. The theme for Ideathon 1.1 was Sustainability, Resilience and Enterprise: Creating an Equitable Social Ecosystem. Under the umbrella term of this theme several subthemes were suggested by every school/centre aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and every theme was mapped against the same.

The first day of Ideathon saw eminent speakers from the industry taking over the stage and giving wonderful insights from their experience and knowledge. The day began with a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Kaushik, Director CIE and Chairperson Ideathon, followed by an opening address by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor GD Goenka University, Prof. (Dr.) Tabrez Ahmad. The Chief Guest for the day was Shri Sudhendu J. Sinha, Adviser NITI Aayog, who pointed out the relevance of initiating an ecosystem that fosters entrepreneurship with a spirit of sustainability for a more equitable world. The second speaker for the day was Ms. Vineeta Hariharan, Former Chief of External Missions, MSME who elaborated on the relevance of MSMEs and start-ups and the policy decisions taken in recent times encouraging entrepreneurs. The third speaker for the day, Mr. Vidya Sagar Singh, Sr. General Manager, NSIC showed the way forward by addressing the audiences on the MSME Innovative Scheme. The presence of eminent guest Mr. Shadab M. Khan, Dy Director NITI Aayog was an encouragement to our students. The first day of Ideathon saw 5 tracks going live and saw participation by 50 groups presenting their business proposals.

The second day of Ideathon was graced by Guest of Honour Dr. Gourav Dwivedi, Faculty IIT Delhi and Mr. Satish Kumar, Assistant Director, MSME. Dr. Dwivedi kept the audiences captivated with an interactive session and guided them on the pros and cons of choosing to be an entrepreneur. Mr. Satish kumar shared from his wide knowledge on the wildlife, flora and  fauna of the region. The second day of Ideathon saw 12 tracks with 120 groups presenting their research proposals. The technical sessions of Ideathon were abuzz with groups of students from diverse disciplines working together as a team and at the end of the conference we had 17 exceptional presentations chosen for awards. Ideathon 1.1 was a great success.
