On 9th September, 2022, Department of Education, School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education, in the orientation program for new students organised a mesmerising and enlightening guest lecture by Ms. Shallu Babbar, Principal, GD Goenka High School, to make the future student-teachers understand the career prospects and importance of being a part of the teaching community. The session started with a serene lamp lighting ceremony, where Ms. Shallu Babbar, Principal, GD Goenka High School, Prof. Anjali Saran Midha, Dean SoHSE, Dr. Parvesh Lata, HOD, Dept. of Education, lighted the lamp for Devi Saraswati. Dr. Mira Mishra, then introduced our guest to us and Prof. Midha, then welcomed Ms. Babbar to address the student-teachers.

Ms. Babbar, started the lecture with a small anecdote which put forth the importance of having a mind that can unlearn to continue the journey of learning lifelong. She continued by sharing her experience and her remarkable journey of having taught 1st to 12th all standards in her 24 year teaching career. She also emphasized on assessing a problem and finding its root cause by the 5-Why technique as well as the significance of 'response' over 'reaction' in a stressful or aggravating situation. Ms. Babbar encouraged the student teacher to retain their uniqueness and creativity while teaching students as well as to understand the impact we will have on their lives. She also talked about how B.Ed. can open doors to many other opportunities to students rather than being a teacher.

Ms. Babbar then opened the session to questions which proved to be very engaging and encouraging at the same time as her wisdom and a knack of inculcating simplicity to a deep thought, won everybody's hearts. The session was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Parvesh Lata, HOD, Dept. of Education and grateful and apprised hearts of the attendees towards Ms. Babbar.
