School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education-Department of Education organised an event to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti on Oct 6, 2022. Mahatma Gandhi, more lovingly known as Bapu by all Indians, is internationally acknowledged for his doctrine of non-violence that led India to its glorious freedom.

2 October every year is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti. In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly declared October 2 to be the International Day of Nonviolence in an effort to honour Gandhi's strategies. Since then, 2nd October is being celebrated to honour and pay respects to the selfless freedom fighter. He was one of the most important people in the history of India and a beacon of hope in the world.

The event started with an inter-house quiz competition which saw enthusiastic participation from all four houses and a healthy rivalry to score the maximum points for their team. The Tagore House score the first position followed by Gandhi and Vivekananda in II and III positions respectively. This was followed by an anecdotal skit on various teachings of Gandhiji that was beautifully enacted by the students of B. Ed Sem III. This was followed by a speech from the B. Ed Sem I.

The event was concluded with a vote of thanks by CCA In charge Dr. Sunita Sehrawat(Assistant Professor) and Dr. Parvesh Lata(Head)DoEd, SoHSE. It was a memorable event.
