It was a matter of pride for GDGU to share that Dr. Pilar Maria Guerrieri, Associate Professor for History and Culture at SoFD, launched a book, “Maps of Delhi”. The enchanting and well-received book studies 61 maps of Delhi from the onset of the 19th century till its proposed master plan of 2021. The book is the first organized collection of the maps of the city, a wonderfully illustrated cartographic history of the capital.



Dr. Guerrieri describes each map, elaborating on the idiosyncrasies, aesthetic details and the evolution of planning and architecture through the tumultuous history of the capital.



The book was formally launched at a glittering ceremony atIndian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) at Lodhi Road, New Delhi on 13th April 2017. The book launch was presided over by the well-known Indian historian & writer, William Dalrymple, the Italian Ambassador to India His Excellency, Mr. Lorenzo Angeloni, famous academician and heritage activist Narayani Gupta, the renowned Cartographer, Manosi Lahiri and various other famous authors & historians.
