National Mathematics Day (December 22) on the occasion of 135th birth anniversary of legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan was celebrated by School of Engineering and Sciences, GD Goenka University, Gurugram on 22 th Dec 2022.

The event started with the Welcome address by Prof.(Dr.) Naresh Sharma. Prof. Sharma welcomed all the participants. He discussed the significance of Ramanujan’s contribution to Mathematics. He told a short story of Ramanujan that in the age of 8 years, how Ramanujan counted the Prasada in a temple. Dr. Sharma told about the Hardy-Ramanujan’s number 1729 that is the smallest number which can be expressed as the sum of two different cubes in two different ways.

The occasion was further graced by Prof. (Dr.) Manish Prateek, Dean SoES, who enunciated the importance of Mathematics in the life. He addressed the students that mathematics is not just reading theorems and formulas, but it is a way to think the solution of any problem. The occasion was celebrated with a mathematical quiz containing some magical question and answers. Students of SoES participated in the quiz. A small presentation on lives of some renowned scientists was shown, followed by a mathematical quiz. A short skit on Biography of Mathematicians like Ramanujan, Pythagoras, Aryabhatta etc was performed by the students during the event. The event ended with a short cultural program and vote of thanks
