Ms. Koshalpreet Kaur and Dr. Anjali Agrawal of the School of Fashion and Design visited the Technical Textiles Exhibition cum Buyer Seller Meet organized by PHD House in collaboration with Ministry of Textiles and North India Textile Research Association (NITRA) on 24th March 2017.

Technical Textiles is the sunrise segment of the global Textile Industry. With increasing competition and diminishing margins in the production of conventional textiles, textile manufacturers in industrialized countries have switched over to production of value added Technical Textiles. Technical Textiles market, in terms of volume, is projected to reach 42.20 million metric tons by 2020.

Depending on the product characteristics, functional requirements and end user applications the highly diversified range of technical textile products have been currently grouped into 12 categories based on application:

i) Agrotech
ii) Meditech
iii) Mobiltech
iv) Packtech
v) Sportech
vi) Buildtech
vii) Clothtech
viii) Hometech
ix) Protech
x) Geotech
xi) Oekotech
xii) Indutech

With this aim, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a leading Industry Chamber of India, organized this exhibition to create a platform for exhibiting products and technologies related to Technical Textiles and to promote the use of Technical Textiles through a face to face buyer seller interaction.

This exhibition was visited with the mission to understand the key industry trends and innovative products, ideas, research and technology. Interaction with manufacturers of medical textiles, agro textiles, industrial textiles and protective textiles turned out to be very informative and knowledgeable.
