Dr. Satbir Bedi, Member Secretary, National Commission for Women inaugurated the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) sponsored one day Workshop on the theme “VRIDHEE” (Virtual Resources for Individualized Development and Holistic Educational Endeavour)organized by School of Education, GD Goenka University on April 23, 2018. The magnanimous educational event was attended by nearly 200 academicians, educational administrators, teacher-educators, school teachers, researchers and student teachers of various government and private universities and colleges across India to develop awareness and skills among them, through discussion and hands-on experience onCourse Development for NIOS SWAYAM Platform of MHRD, Government of India. During the workshop, the delegates were given training and hands on experience for development of innovative and online courses for secondary school level to higher education level offered on NIOS SWAYAM portal of MHRD, Government of India.

Prof. (Dr.) Shrihari, Vice Chancellor, GD Goenka University during his welcome address stressed on the importance of virtual learning to promote access to quality education to the ‘unreached’. Prof. (Dr.) Reva Parimoo Raina, Dean, School of Education, GD Goenka University threw light on the theme of the workshop. Dr. Satbir Bedi highlighted the concerns in education in present times and urged the teacher delegates of the workshop to think ‘out of the box’ and foster innovation in teaching- learning. Prof. (Dr.) C.B Sharma, Chairman, NIOS and guest of honour of the workshop highlighted the importance of virtual learning in present times. During the Inaugural Session, the dignitaries released the e-book which is the compilation of selected papers presented by delegates during the 1st National Conference ‘ERA 2017’ held on October 06, 2017.

During the Valedictory Address, Prof. (Dr.) Harjeet Kaur Bhatia, Head, Department of Educational Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi appreciated the contribution of NIOS SWAYAM platform in providing access to inclusive and equitable education. The delegates enthusiastically participated in the practical sessions of learning course development on SWAYAM portal conducted by training officers from NIOS.
