Workshop on ProwessIQ Database at School of Management

The School of Management conducted a workshop on ‘ProwessIQ Database’Tool on 4th March 2017. The purpose of this workshop was to acquaint the faculty members and research scholars on application of this database to enable research works in their respective fields.

About Prowess Database

Prowess is a database, developed by the Center of Monitoring Indian Economy Pvt. Ltd(CMIE), provide the data of the financial performance of over 30,000 companies. It includes all companies traded on the National Stock Exchange and the Bombay Stock Exchange, thousands of unlisted public limited companies and hundreds of private limited companies. It also includes a number of important business entities that are not registered companies.

About the Workshop

The workshop was conducted by the professional executive from CMIE. The participant learned the techniques of retrieving data like Annual reports, Quarterly financial statements, of various companies, Stock Exchange feeds. The participants were also trained in how to do normalization so as to enable inter-company and inter-temporal comparisons. The training provided in this workshop will be useful in conducting industry wide in-depth research work and facilitating effective decision making.
The workshop was attended by more than 50 faculty members and research scholars mainly from School of Management, School of Humanities and Social Sciences and School of Communications.
