School of Engineering and Sciences (SOES), G D Goenka University has developed a "Sustainable Development Club" for involving young minds to actively participate in various activities pertaining to sustainable development leading to the betterment of society and environment. To inaugurate the club activities School of Engineering and Sciences (SOES), has organized an online Guest lecture titled “Sustainable Development Practices to Mitigate Climate Change ”on 19th Oct from 12:10 pm -1:00 pm by Prof.(Dr.) Virender Kumar Vijay, Professor in Centre for Rural development and Technology, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) New Delhi. Total 70 Students and Faculty members attended this session.

Prof. (Dr.) V. K Vijay started his talk with the description regarding impact of the traditional lifestyle on environment. He highlighted the comparison between impact of present as well as past lifestyle of the people on environment, present scenario of sustainable development practices in India, renewable solution for locally available resources for green future, green technologies for sustainable future, biogas production & utilization and biogas based power projects in India. To make his talk more interesting and easy to understand by the students Prof. (Dr.) V. K Vijay also used various videos pertaining to the content of the talk.

In the last minutes of his lecture he focused mobile Upgradation and utilisation of biogas plant in IIT Delhi and some other states of India. Finally he ended his talk by summarising practices approaching towards green future and sustainability. Students and faculty members also interacted with Prof. (Dr.) Kaushik and asked question pertaining to the talk. This session virtual provided the students and faculty members a platform to understand detailed interconnection between Sustainable Development Practices and Climate Change.
