Introduction: Dr. Mahesh Kumar Tiwari currently serves as an Associate Professor at the Centre for Excellence in Occupational Health, Safety, Fire, and Environment (C-OHSFE) at GD Goenka University, Gurgaon, India. Prior to this role, he was affiliated with the Department of Fire Safety Engineering and Management at the International College of Engineering and Management (ICEM) in Muscat, Oman, and the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun. With a career spanning over 10 years, Dr. Tiwari has gained extensive experience in both industry and academia.
Dr. Tiwari earned his Ph.D. in Fire Safety Engineering and M.Tech. in Thermal Engineering from IIT Roorkee, India, and holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from CSIT, Durg, India. Following the completion of his Ph.D., he served as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Centre for Safety Engineering at IIT Gandhinagar for one year. His research primarily focuses on compartment fires, active and passive fire protection systems, building facade fires, fire modeling, and smoke control management. His work involves Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS), cable fire, and explores the dynamics of forest fires. His research contributions include several pre-reviewed research articles published in leading international journals and conferences.
Additionally, he is a certified lead-auditor of ISO 45001 (Occupational Health Safety Management) and a professional member of the Fire Safe Association India (FSAI). He is also a certified first aider from RED CROSS SOCIETY.
