Field Visit of Department of Education

The visit by students of the Department of Education, SOHSE, GD Goenka University to the National Crafts Museum and Hastkala Academy in New Delhi was a remarkable experience that offered an in-depth look into the rich cultural heritage of India. The museum is one of the largest art museums in India and is dedicated to showcasing the diverse forms of art and craft of India. Situated in a large campus at the corner of Pragati Maidan, opposite the majestic Purana Qila, the museum was designed by the renowned architect Charles Correa.

Around 50 students were accompanied by their teachers Dr. Mira Mishra, Dr. Rekha Kaushal and Dr. Bratati Dasgupta . Teachers gave them a guided tour of the museum. The students were exposed to a wide range of Indian art and culture, starting from the Indus Valley Civilization to the present day. The highlight of the visit was the students’ interaction with the museum curator, who explained the significance and cultural context of each piece of art on display. The students also had the opportunity to participate in an art workshop, where they learned about the different techniques and materials used by Indian artists.

The visit to the National Arts Museum was not only an educational experience but also a cultural immersion for the students. It provided them with a unique opportunity to learn about Indian art and culture in an interactive and engaging way and helped to foster their appreciation and understanding of the arts.
