The School of Education, GD Goenka University organized a guest lecture on Curriculum Design for Schools in the 21st Century. The purpose was to acquaint student teachers with the global scenario pertaining to curriculum designs at school level and their applicability in the Indian context. The focus was to provide a platform to student teachers to interact with the international experts to find out about the best practices adopted worldwide. The faculty was keen to know about latest research going on all around the world in relation to hypermedia learning and other latest pedagogical trends.
The lecture started with Saraswati Vandana, followed by the felicitation of the dignitaries by Prof. Reva Raina, Dean, School of Education. In his lecture, Dr Stuart shared about the challenges faced by academia all over the world. He said that the new focus should be on values and key competencies. He emphasized on the fact that students will have to develop an attitude of enquiry so as to learn better and the ICT will play a major role in the teaching learning process and various pedagogical practices. He focused on learner-centric education rather than teacher-centric education.
The students and faculties interacted with Dr Stuart showing their enthusiasm regarding their profession and desire to learn about the latest methodologies like project based learning, inclusive education, adaptive expertise and modern learning environment. The lecture concluded with a vote of thanks followed by national anthem.
