Legal Aid Practices in India and Sri Lanka by Mr. Priyantha Gamage
Debate and Literary Society, School of Law, G D Goenka University organized a guest lecture on “Legal Aid Practices in India and Sri Lanka” by Mr. Priyantha Gamage on 4th February, 2019. The resource person is currently working as Attorney-at-Law, Commissioner of Legal Aid Commission of Sri Lanka. The lecture was attended by faculty members, members of the Legal Aid and Debate Society along with other students from School of Law, Mr. Gamage spoke about the importance of Legal Aid and also highlighted the several provisions of Legal Aid system in Sri Lanka. He focused on how the Legal Aid System in Sri Lanka differs from that in India which he did through an elaborately prepared power point presentation. It was an extremely enriching session and great learning experience for all. The session was very interactive as the students and Mr. Gamage constantly compared and evaluated the Indian laws and the Indian Constitution with the Sri Lankan laws for legal aid
