The School of Management, as a part of workshop series on Research Enhancement Skills by GD Goenka Research & Development Center, conducted a one day workshop on ‘Predictive Modelling Techniques & Applications using SPSS’ on 23rd July 2018 in its campus. The entire workshop was comprised of lecture on fundamentals of predictive modelling techniques followed by practical session and exercises on use of SPSS in the computer lab. Dr. Gyanesh Kumar Sinha, Associate Professor and Dr. Kishore Kumar Morya, Associate Professor from the school of management, GD Goenka University were resource faculty for this training session. In the beginning of the session, Prof.(Dr.) Kim Menezes, Dean-School of Management, welcomed the participants and spoke about importance of workshop in application of business research and decision making.
The main objective of this workshop is to train the participants on following skill sets
- Managerial and business applications of various regression techniques like simple linear regression, multiple linear regression, logistics regression, and stepwise regression.
- Application of SPSS software tool for data recording, analysis and interpretations.
The workshop was attended by more than 25 Ph.D research scholars (including faculty members) from various research disciplines like management, engineering, economics, humanities & social sciences etc. The participants were trained on using SPSS tool for developing various types of regression models and its applications. They also learned how to analyze the output of SPSS and interpret its result. The session concluded by conducting a conceptual quiz test to understand the learning outcome of the workshop. The participants found the entire session very interesting and having learning experience.
