The Legal Support Services Committee of the School of Law of G.D. Goenka University in association with DLSA organized a “Legal Aid and Awareness Camp” at ‘Community Centre, Sampkinangli’, Sohna, Gurugram, Haryana on 28th February 2019.
The student volunteers performed skit on ‘Road safety and its Importance’ at aforesaid venue for the purpose of raising legal awareness at the grass-root level. Further, awareness baithak was organized with villagers on various schemes like Haryana Vivah Shagun Yojna, Haryana Pension Scheme, MNREGA, Ration Card benefits, Swacch Bahart Mission, Right to Education, CM window etc. run by the Government of Haryana in order to make people aware about different policies that are floated especially for the marginalized sections of the society.
A special consultancy bench was set up by LLM students of School of Law (GD Goenka University), Advocate Harish Bhardwaj and Advocate Arun Shokeen (Panel Advocates from District Legal Services Authority, Gurugram). The advocates also informed the villagers about the provisions of Motor Vehicles Act and the benefits to follow the traffic rules and the necessity of getting the vehicles registered and insured.
Special session was conducted by faculty coordinators Ms. Shiksha Dahiya and Ms. Meenal to make women aware about health related schemes being floated by the Government of Haryana. Mr. Ajay and Dr. Rakesh Kumar, faculty coordinators informed the public about the availability of free legal aid to the marginalized sections of the society and other governmental schemes like old age pension, disabled pension and also addressed issues related to pension to disabled persons, etc. A “Baithak” was organized with Mrs. Rekha Rawat (Parshad of that area) and other leaders of the village to impart legal awareness.
