The School of Management, GD Goenka University, organized a meaningful visit to the Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Ghamroj, on August 9, 2024. This initiative, envisioned by Dr. Nusrat Khan, aimed to enhance social awareness and provide practical insights into the realities of rural education.
The visit sought to align academic knowledge with real-world applications, fostering empathy and social responsibility among the university’s students. During the visit, students engaged with the school’s students and faculty, gaining a deeper understanding of the unique challenges faced by students in rural government schools. The interaction offered GD Goenka students valuable perspectives on resource limitations, teaching methodologies, and the aspirations of the young learners they met.
In addition to observing the existing educational environment, the university students reflected on ways to bridge gaps between urban and rural educational systems. This experience encouraged them to connect their theoretical knowledge with practical applications, especially in the context of rural education and development.
The visit also fostered community engagement, laying the foundation for future collaborations between GD Goenka University and the school. It underscored the importance of building partnerships to create sustainable solutions for challenges in education.
This enriching experience not only inspired the incoming batch to think critically about societal issues but also encouraged them to contribute positively to the community. By including such initiatives in the orientation program, the university emphasized its commitment to holistic learning and instilling a sense of social responsibility in its students. The visit was a stepping stone toward creating a generation of socially conscious professionals equipped to make meaningful contributions to society.
