The Department of Psychology organized a workshop on the "Role of Counsellor in School and College" on April 12, 2024. The workshop, led by Ms. Poornima Sharma, a Special Educator and Counsellor registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), was well-attended by students and faculty members. The faculty members highly appreciated Ms. Sharma's expertise and practical insights.
The workshop covered various key areas, including emotional well-being and the importance of counselling, the counsellor's role in guiding students, different types of counselling specialities, counselling techniques, and the utilization of therapeutic approaches. It also emphasized the counsellor's collaboration with school personnel, confidentiality and informed consent, early intervention and prevention strategies, and presented case studies to illustrate successful counselling interventions. Overall, the workshop underscored the critical role of counsellors in supporting students' academic, personal, and emotional well-being in educational settings.
