Paying special tribute to Lord Mahavira on the occasion of his 2614th Birth Anniversary
“You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf”…
The students and teachers of GD Goenka School Of Education celebrated the 2614th birth anniversary of the 24th and the last Tirthankara, “Lord Mahavira” through a special assembly on 28th March, 2018. Practical sessions on “Understanding Self through Mindfulness” were also organised from 27-28th March, 2018.
Dr. Maria Montessori, an eminent educationist said, “The greatest signs of success for a teacher is to be able to say- The children are now working as if I did not exist”. She further elaborated on the complexity of the teaching jobs and how Mindfulness practice is the easiest and most reliable way to calm the nervous system, reverse stress patterns, increase positivity and develop resilience.
This exercise has not only imparted enlightenment but will also lead all attendees to develop a calmer and more focused presence in the classroom.
