School of Education, G D Goenka University commenced the Community Service Program in association with Daanish India Foundation, New Delhi on March 10, 2018. Working with the community is a necessary, important and integral component of all academic programmes at the School of Education.

Daanish India Foundation, under the dynamic leadership of its Founder and Trustee, Ms. Sneha Jain, is doing a pioneering work in providing education to underprivileged children and developing their vocational skills to help them achieve their highest and true potential. Likewise, GD Goenka Group, led by its Managing Director and a great visionary, Mr.Nipun Goenka, is working round the clock for national development in variegated fields, including education and has become a trend-setter in providing innovative education from kindergarten to higher education.



The student-teachers of B.Ed. programme ofSchool of Education, G D Goenka University have begun their journey of ‘Service above Self’ at the \'Daanish -Ank Remedial Learning Centre\', for educating over 120 underprivileged children from slum areas near Bhowapur Kaushambi, Ghaziabad belonging to age groups 4-8 years and 8-14 years. During their further association with the children they shall plan, organize and execute various scholastic and co-scholastic activities for these children such as story-telling, theatre, puppet show, yoga sessions, art and craft classes, exposure to ICT based learning and video presentations to enhance mindfulness on personal hygiene, health and sanitation, environmental conservation, values and moral education.



On the first day of the Community Service Program the student-teachers taught subjects like English, Mathematics, Hindi and Environmental Sciences to children of age group 4-8 years. They enjoyed their interaction with Ms.Sneha Jain and were tremendously enthused by her resolve to ensure that these underprivileged children have an equal ‘Right to Education’ and hence an equal access to the formal school system. They interacted with the other teachers and volunteers working on this project. Furthermore, they narrated moral stories to children and recited poems.
