Awareness Workshop on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace

With a unified push to enhance workplace safety and build a safe, respectful campus for all,, Internal Committee at GD Goenka University, Sohna, Gurugram successfully organized a Awareness Workshop on POSH ACT on 31 January 2026, focusing on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace (POSH) Act, 2013.
This initiative aimed to strengthen workplace safety, educate new joinees, members of faculty and staff on their rights and responsibilities, foster a safe, inclusive, gender-sensitive campus environment in higher education institutions. The session concentrated on raising awareness about the provisions of the POSH Act and its applicability in academic institutions, highlight the role of the Internal Committee (IC) in handling complaints and encourage the creation of a safe, inclusive, and gender-sensitive campus environment.
The event initiated with the felicitation of the expert, Prof. (Dr.) Neeta Pant, CHRO, GD Goenka Group. The expert, provided clear insights into clarifying the definition of Sexual Harassment and understanding what constitutes harassment under the POSH Act, offering step-by-step guidance on filing complaints, timelines for resolution, confidentiality protocols, and preventive strategies encouraging open communication, and policy enforcement to prevent harassment.
Further, she also highlighted the structure, responsibilities, and functioning of the Internal Committee in addressing complaints within the institution.
The session outlined mandatory compliance measures—including constituting an Internal Committee (IC) for workplaces. Special emphasis was placed on protecting complainants from retaliation and addressing false allegations appropriately, only if proven maliciously filed.
The session concluded with vote of thanks by Prof. (Dr.) Jyoti Shrivastava, Co-Chair IC. Over all, the POSH Awareness Workshop was a resounding success, reinforcing GD Goenka University’s commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment. By empowering individuals with knowledge and tools to combat harassment, the event marked a significant step in building a respectful and equitable campus culture.
