Welcoming the Future Innovators!

SoES welcomed the first-year students to GD Goenka University on 11th August 2025. The energy was high, the excitement contagious, and the Auditorium buzzing as we greeted our bright new batch of innovators.

The day began with a warm welcome by Dr. Ritu Malik, followed by an inspiring inaugural address by Prof. (Dr.) K. Thammi Reddy, Dean, School of Engineering and Sciences. He spoke about discipline, upskilling, the power of emerging technologies, and how to make the most of the university’s industry collaborations.

We were honoured to hear from Dr. Ugur Guven, Director – International Affairs, who shared opportunities for global exposure, semester exchanges, and how AI is reshaping the global job market.

Prof. (Dr.) Nihal Siddiqui motivated students to go beyond the curriculum, develop soft skills, and aim for all-round excellence, while Prof. (Dr.) Anindita Roy Chowdhary highlighted the cutting-edge labs, research centres, and hackathon achievements of GDGU students.

The freshers also received an introduction to our vibrant student clubs:

  • Quantum Club – Innovation & research hub
  • Coder’s Club – Programming and hackathons
  • Sciventure Club – Science exploration & innovation
  • Biobecons Club – Biotechnology & life sciences
  • Mystery Matrix Club – Forensics & real-world simulations

In the Mentor–Mentee Connect session, Dr. Priyanka and Dr. Shweta Kumari briefed students about the mentor–mentee system, ensuring every student has guidance and support throughout their academic journey.

A special highlight of the day was the announcement of the Short-Film Festival, where students will capture their orientation journey, and the best reels will be featured on the final day.

The day ended with smiles, conversations, and a delicious lunch—marking the beginning of a transformative journey for our students.
