Visit to Institute of Pesticide Formulation Technology (IPFT), Gurugram
On 19 September 2025, the Department of Forensic Science organized an educational visit for UG and PG students to the Institute of Pesticide Formulation Technology (IPFT), Gurugram, an autonomous institution established in 1991 under the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India.
The visit began with an insightful session by Mr. Abhishek, Senior Scientist, who introduced the Biosciences Division and explained its work on bio-efficacy, phytotoxicity, phytotonicity, pesticide compatibility, and the impact of pesticides on beneficial organisms and the environment. This was followed by a detailed interaction with Ms. Nusrat Iqbal, Scientist, Formulation Division, who discussed the division’s consultancy services and highlighted its achievements in developing bio-botanical pesticide formulations as sustainable alternatives to synthetic pesticides.

Students then engaged with Dr. Sudeep Mishra, Scientist, Analytical Division, who elaborated on the division’s role in quality control, residue analysis, method development, and the use of advanced analytical instruments. The visit concluded with an address by Dr. Samsul Alam, Director, who emphasized IPFT’s commitment to innovative research, eco-friendly technologies, and industry support. Students also explored instruments such as GC-MS, LC-MS, HPLC, and FTIR, gaining valuable hands-on exposure that strengthened their understanding of real-world pesticide research and analytical techniques.
The visit was well organized by Ms. Mala Bharti, Assistant Professor and Mr. Fakhruddin Ahmed, Assistant Professor.
