Visit to National Dope Testing Laboratory, New Delhi

On 28th August 2025, undergraduate and postgraduate students from the Department of Forensic Science, School of Engineering and Sciences, visited the National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL), New Delhi. During the visit, Dr. P.L. Sahu, Director & CEO (I/C), NDTL, addressed the students, highlighting the laboratory’s objectives, its global accreditation by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), and its vital role in safeguarding the integrity of sports through advanced anti-doping analysis.

The visit aimed to connect theoretical learning with practical exposure in forensic toxicology and drug testing. Dr. Anandarajan T, Scientist “B” & Quality Manager at NDTL, guided the students on a tour of the laboratory. They were introduced to instruments including Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS/MS), Liquid Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (IRMS), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), spectrophotometers, centrifuges, along with sample preparation and automation systems.

Ms. Mala Bharti and Mr. Fakhruddin Ali guided and supported the students throughout their visit to the National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL).

The students also observed the complete workflow of dope testing including the sample receipt, preparation, instrumental analysis, and result interpretation that are performed under the strict protocols and in adherence to WADA guidelines.
