Empowering future leaders in aerospace and energy through innovation, sustainability, and global excellence
Message from Dean
Prof. (Dr.) Ugur Guven, Head Centre of Aerospace
When you study Aerospace Engineering at GD, we allow you to get a taste of everything by giving you generalized courses that focus on aerospace engineering. So these courses would be like the introduction to fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, introduction to avionics, and obviously core courses like physics, mathematics, and other engineering courses. In your third year, we are the only university in India that asks you to choose a specialization in the area of Aerospace Engineering. No other university in India is able to offer this. You have four areas to choose from. You could choose Aeronautics, which deals with everything that flies in the atmosphere including flights, jets, planes, weather balloons, UAVs. You can choose Astronautics, which deals with everything that has to do with space such as satellites, space stations, rockets, missiles. You can choose Avionics, which has to do with all the electronics and control systems in aircraft or spacecraft such as radar systems, navigation systems, telecommunication systems, automated landing systems. Or you can choose Defense Technologies, which is a very new field that only we offer in India. This involves getting specialized in things like S400 defense systems, Patriot defense systems, missile-to-missile defense systems, and missile-to-air defense systems.
