The Bachelor of Design (Hons.) Communication Design program at UID is a 4-year undergraduate course aimed at developing creative professionals with a community-centered, socially aware approach to problem-solving.
The program emphasizes empathy, environmental consciousness, and advanced technological skills, preparing students to approach design challenges with a socially informed, adaptable perspective.
Program Description
The objective of this programme is to nurture a strong creative aptitude with empathetic sensibilities, by developing a socio-culturally aware, community-centric and environment-conscious attitude towards problem-solving. It is to also develop a robust and adaptable technological competency for futuristic design practices and strong decisive representation and communication abilities. It is an intensive program emphasizing visual problem-solving, organizational skills, and information theory. The curriculum covers the various verticals of Communication Design viz. typography, design for print and publication, wayfinding and signages, branding & identity design, packaging design, motion design, socially relevant design, UX and UI design, design for the social sector, game design, advertising etc. Given the broad scope of the program the students are also introduced to art, culture, social aspects and design history along with new media design environments and domains like AI, AR-VR-XR, Haptics, Experiential Design.
The curriculum covers a comprehensive range of communication design domains, including typography, print and publication design, branding, packaging, UX/UI, and motion design. Students gain exposure to socially relevant design, game design, and advertising, while also exploring new media such as AI, AR-VR-XR, and experiential design.
