Bachelor of Design (Hons.)
(with Specialization In Transportation & Mobility Design)
Transportation & Mobility Design is a UID programme that educates the future visionaries in the field of mobility.
It shifts automotive paradigm beyond its conventional definition to move towards such emergent domains as electric mobility, autonomous driving systems, shared services and sustainable innovation. In partnership with Rubika – The School of Industrial Design, France, the program offers international exposure to students in the form of global studios and cross cultural immersion which enables them to infuse design sensitivity with engineering principles.
Program Description
The program seeks to cultivate a sense of Professionalism and Industry readiness by nurturing responsible designers who are prepared to tackle the evolving demands of Transportation and Mobility solutions while advocating for environmentally sound and sustainable mobility systems. The four-year undergraduate program leads to a Bachelor of Design (B. Des) in Transportation and Mobility Design degree from UID, GD Goenka University. The core objective of the B. Des in Transportation and Mobility Design is to equip students with a deep understanding of the intricate relationships between transportation systems, urban environments, and user needs, by fostering problem-solving abilities to create innovative and sustainable transportation solutions. The program philosophy is focused towards fostering new-age, futuristic mobility designs while emphasizing the importance of user-centric problem-solving methodology. Each course is designed to encourage students to explore the multifaceted nature of mobility design, integrating theoretical and practical knowledge with real world applications. The curriculum employs experiential learning through hands-on learning approach, fieldwork, interdisciplinary collaboration and emphasizing practical projects in collaboration with the industry that connect students with industry professionals and real-world challenges.
