Shreyas Kalia is a multidisciplinary designer, educator, and design researcher working at the intersection of furniture, interiors, material exploration, emerging technology, and design pedagogy. A graduate of MIT Institute of Design and Politecnico di Milano, he brings an international and human-centred perspective to furniture and spatial design.
His professional practice spans furniture design, product design, UI/UX, immersive digital experiences, and design-led storytelling. He has contributed to furniture-design projects associated with brands including Natuzzi Italia, Ghidini 1991, and Lorenza Bozzoli, while also developing independent work through Studio Kryolite.
As an Assistant Professor in Interior and Furniture Design at UID NCR, Shreyas develops learning experiences around furniture systems, rapid prototyping, digital fabrication, IoT-enabled smart furniture, and interdisciplinary design practice. He encourages students to translate research, material experimentation, and user insight into meaningful, well-resolved outcomes.
His research interests centre on participatory design pedagogy and more inclusive approaches to design education, particularly frameworks that support autistic and neurodivergent students. Through teaching and research, he aims to make design education more empathetic, adaptive, critical, and future-facing.
